Let's look
closer and see the details that separate the Free Spirit from any other
design on the market.
THE BLACK
DEVIL ENGINE - The heart of the Free
Spirit is the Cors-Air Black Devil engine. Ohio Powered
Paragliding has 6 years experience working with JPX Italia and
the Cors-Air engines. We are one of the few manufacturers to
utilize the JPX Italia recommended 5th motor mount for engine stability
and vibration reduction. The Black Devil is the best horsepower
to weight paraglider engine on the market today with unmatched
reliability and quality. Check out the quality of these engines -
they look and run like a Swiss Watch ! Click
here for more technical details
The CAGE DESIGN -
The cage design is a rugged single
ring cage
with what we call a Matrix Ring that makes the difference.
The main frame and Matrix Ring are constructed of steel . The
cage spokes and cage ring are made of aluminum. This
structure forms a frame and cage design that is supper strong.
With an all up dry
weight of 58 pounds (including cage,
frame,
harness, and prop, no fuel), the Free Spirit is rugged yet light and
manageable for the average person.
Current 2008 Design has no space between net sections !
THE
HARNESS
- For a paraglider motor harness to be comfortable, it must be designed
with plenty of padding, plenty of adjustment straps to fit the pilot,
and a seat that is long enough to support the pilots legs. After
flying many different harness configurations, the Free Spirit seat
board is long and comfortable. The harness has storage pockets on
each side of the pilot to hold radios, tools, or other items, it
has pulleys for use with the speed bar, and the diaper style leg
straps. This amazing feature allows free leg movement while
running without any interference by the leg straps.

THE
PROPELLER - This new prop is the
result
of years of experience with the Black Devil engine and knowing what it
takes in a propeller to make the Black Devil perform to its optimum
capability. With laminations of walnut and maple this prop
is tough, yet lightweight on the tips to reduce torque. After
working with almost every PPG prop manufacturer in North America and
Spain, Ohio Powered Paragliding is happy to offer the best 44" and 48"
props on
the market for the 2.5 reduction Black Devil
Engine with the 2.5 reduction. At a retail cost of $189(44") and $199
(48") these props are
a
great bargain for any Black Devil owner. Click
here for more details or to order.
Other features include the
exclusive
Free Spirit in-air KICK START and
Convenient FUEL SYSTEM with in tank fuel filter, check valve,
start-up primer bulb. No blow-into-the tank priming with
this system.

Complete Package including
Training:
Introductory Tandem
Flight
-
$100
The tandem flight
with
instructor,
Bruce Brown, is an excellent way to get a good understanding of what it
is like to fly a powered paraglider. You are introduced to the
parts
of the motor unit and paraglider and the student passenger can even
take
control of the paraglider in flight if desired. We do
both foot launch and trike launch tandems if running is not for you.
When you purchase your Free Spirit
Package from Ohio PPG your complete training cost is only
$700
Powered paragliding
complete
course takes you through your solo flights on non-Ohio PPG equipment- $1400
Because it is best to
learn
on the equipment one will actually fly in the future, students will
need
to have their own equipment to do the complete course which includes
solo
motorized flights. We will train on equipment you purchase from other
sources
or the equipment you purchase from Ohio Powered
Paragliding.
Training normally takes 5 days depending on weather and student
progression. After 10 years
of
training pilots to fly powered paragliders, our experience dictates
that 5 days is necessary to be trained completely and safely.
Two to three days is just not long
enough.
Everyone progresses at a different rate, so the necessary time will be
taken to insure you are trained properly and flying safely before
you are encouraged to fly on your own at home.
